Open Enrollment Message
Department of Human Resources

Dear Colleagues:

The 2013 Benefits Open Enrollment period is officially here.  It will begin on October 25, 2012 and will conclude on November 8, 2012.  Following an extraordinarily competitive marketing analysis of our medical programs, University leadership has approved the Benefits Advisory Committee’s recommendation to continue the medical and dental coverage with CIGNA.  Based upon the favorable renewal, there will be no increase to employee contributions and no changes to the plan design for the medical, dental and prescription drug program.

In addition, after hearing from many of you regarding the elimination of the pre-tax commuter benefit, we will be bringing back the commuter benefit in 2013.  The benefit will be administered by Benefit Resource, Inc.  Benefit Resource Inc. is a leading provider of pre-tax commuter benefits and has close relationships with transit authorities in many large metropolitan areas, including the New York City metro area.   Employees who sign up for the commuter benefit will be provided with a debit card which was not offered by the prior administrator.  More detailed information about how to enroll in the pre-tax commuter benefit is available on the Human Resources website.  Representatives from Benefit Resource will also be at the upcoming benefit fairs if you wish to speak with them.

Seton Hall University recognizes that our employees are our most important assets and we are committed to making wellness an integral part of our benefit offerings.  In 2013 we will continue to bring you opportunities and tools to assist you in attaining and maintaining good health and well-being.

We encourage all employees to carefully review the enclosed information with your covered dependents and/or your health care providers as soon as possible to allow yourself ample time to evaluate your options, to ask questions, and to obtain the information that you need to make an informed choice for you and your family.

We look forward to seeing you at the benefit fairs,
