Housing Billing, Deposits and Refunds

 

By submitting an application for housing a student commits to a full year license agreement. Room and board charges are posted to students account on a semester basis. On occasion, students who have applied and been assigned to housing have need of canceling their application & assignment.
 
Prior to Move In - Canceling a Housing Application
Housing applications may be canceled and a request for room reservation deposit refund are accepted by Housing & Residence Life in writing by June 1 of each year, for the fall semester.
 
Students who apply for and deposit to housing after June 1 may also cancel the application, however the room reservation deposit is not refundable after that date.
 
Students who cancel their housing application and are not attending Seton Hall are eligible (subject to dates above) for a refund of the room reservation deposit.
 
Students who decide to cancel the housing application and commute to classes will not receive a refund check; rather the room reservation deposit will be credited to the student account towards the tuition bill.
 
A student who desires to cancel their housing application PRIOR to move in, must complete a Housing Cancellation form.  All room and board charges will be removed from the student account. 

Refund checks are processed by Student Financial Services in Bayley Hall. The Department of Housing and Residence Life does not issue refund checks.

After Move In -  Requesting a Release of License
Once a student has moved in they are bound by the terms of the license agreement for the full academic year.  Should a need arise, students may submit a Request for Release form seeking consideration to be released. Please note, documentation is required as proof of request reason. 

Should the request be granted, room charges will be prorated based on a weekly basis.  After the 6th week of the semester no portion of the charge is refunded.
 
Refund checks are processed by Student Financial Services in Bayley Hall. The Department of Housing and Residence Life does not issue refund checks.
