Department of Facilities and Operations

Facilities and Operations is comprised of two entities that serve the University, Facilities Engineering and Business Affairs.


Facilities Engineering provides planning, construction, and maintenance for all University properties.  Capital projects, which usually involve external architects and contractors, are directed and managed by the department.  The University Warehouse maintains an inventory of items used weekly by the trade shops.   The Facilities Engineering Safety Coordinator oversees conditions at the worksites for facilities’ personnel and outside contractors, as well as conduct classes in workplace safety precautions.

Business Affairs, under the umbrella of Operations, is responsible for a wide range of services that include the University’s dining services provider; the mail room; housekeeping; University print shop; and the University bookstore.  Business Affairs facilitates the contract review and execution process for all documents from student internships to contracts with vendors doing business with the University.   The external entities for vending, laundry services, and cable television also fall within Operations.
