Established in 1989, the Women’s Resource Center seeks to promote, support, and empower women.

Goals

  • Increase awareness and understanding of women's issues
  • Provide peer support
  • Facilitate personal growth and development
  • Serve as a referral source for women on campus

Opportunities

Programming: We offer a number of programs and events that provide information on areas such as, domestic violence, sexual assault, women’s history and women’s health issues. We create programs that are fun yet educational and foster an environment that allows men and women to gain knowledge of special topics.

  • Clothesline Project
  • These Hands Don't Hurt Women
  • Male Privilege / Women's Empowerment
  • Women's Resource Center Open House
  • Lady Rhythms
  • Fearless Friday  - A Day without Dieting
  • Women's Appreciation Dinner
  • Take Back the Night
  • Women's Retreat

WRC Staff: The Women’s Resource Center employs permanent staff for the academic year. WRC provides leadership development opportunities for the students through specialized training.

Volunteering: Interested in becoming a volunteer for the WRC? Besides our wonderful student staff, we also have a wonderful group of volunteers who assist us in program and daily tasks. If interested, please pass by the WRC office in the University Center.

Some of the Volunteering opportunities we provide:

  • Baby Blankets – Raphael’s Life House: This is a 2 month long effort in which WRC staff and volunteers make blankets for the newborns of Raphael’s Life House. WRC staff and volunteers provide crochet lessons for participants that don’t know how to crochet.

  • Dress For Success: By partnering with Dress for Success Newark, the WRC is able to promote economic independence for disadvantage women by providing professional attire. The WRC has collection boxes throughout campus and accepts gently-worn clothing from all members of the Seton Hall community.
