Today's diverse workforce poses both challenges and opportunities. Join us to increase your skills!
Companies, multinational corporations, schools, hospitals, and most employers are seeking employees who are able to work effectively in a diverse workforce.
- On campus employers are looking for students that can relate to others in our diverse community.
- Everyone wants to be able to relate to each other with Respect.
- Is "Politically Correct" the Right thing to do?
- We bring you the real thing to BE.
In the Welcoming Diversity Workshop, participants do a series of activities, empowering individuals of all ages and backgrounds to take leadership in building inclusive communities.
NCBI’s approach of combining emotional healing work with practical skill training enables participants to learn quickly in a safe environment that values individual initiative.
NCBI’s seasoned training teams-- representing a wide variety of backgrounds--coupled with the diversity of the participants in the seminar, provide a valuable resource that helps people understand how they are both alike and different.
Workshop Goals
- Identify the information and misinformation we learned about other groups;
- Identify and express pride in the group (s) to which we belong;
- Learn how groups, other than our own, experience mistreatment;
- Learn the personal impact of specific incidents of discrimination; and
- Learn how to interrupt prejudicial jokes, remarks, and slurs.
Who can benefit at SHU?
- Students (undergraduate and graduate), staff, faculty, priests, and administrators can benefit from this program. The purpose is to have members of our own community use NCBI ideas and skills to make these groups more inclusive and effective, creating a greater community.
- The NCBI team at SHU is prepared to lead One Day Workshops throughout the University Community.
- If you believe that prejudice or discrimination is affecting the personal and/or professional lives of your peers, contact us to arrange a special workshop for your group.
- If you would like to attend one of our workshops all you need to do is sign up at ncbi@shu.edu. There is no fee involved for members of the Seton Hall Community during the scheduled workshops.
- Our presentations are especially prepared for staff training, staff retreats, and professional development programs.
- We have participated in town hall meetings and heated discussions in our community. We arrange special presentations based on your needs.
- NCBI presents 3hr. sessions for each Incoming Class during Welcome Week and also conducts informational sessions during New Employee Orientation.
What is being said about the Workshops:
“NCBI for me is a vehicle that all humans can use to build a universal community. A community that is safe, respectful, understanding, and caring of all its members. NCBI is a movement toward a better and brighter future.
– Alfred Merritt, Class of 2012
“NCBI for me has really given me the skills to give back to not only the SHU community but to the world. It has inspired me to dedicate my life to change other lives for the better. NCBI fosters a safe, respectful, understanding and comfortable environment for its members and all of society. It is a program that I believe will change the world one person at a time.
– Aneta Dybka, Class of 2012
