Professional Career Searching
Career Center

Your professional career search should incorporate as many resources and networks as possible. We recommend utilizing a variety of recruiting methods, including personal networks, virtual career fairs, job banks and career events sponsored by The Career Center as well as all external events. The more approaches you take, the more likely it is that you will be successful.

Your career search for a professional position should start six to eight months prior to graduation.  Many competitive employers start recruiting during the Fall semester, while others will hire only through their internship programs. The following provides several ways to get your professional career search off to a great start!

  • Locate a Professional Position by utilizing Navigator. If you don't have a Navigator account, call our office at (973) 761-9355 to meet with a career professional.
  • Check Navigator for employers who have “On Campus Interviews” scheduled.  Throughout the year, more than 60 employers visit The Career Center to on-campus conduct interviews.
  • Make sure that your resume is included in the Navigator eResume Books as well as the Resume Book that is distributed by The Career Center. More about resumes »
  • Attend on-campus Career Fairs and Networking Events as well as external recruiting events.
  • Locate  a Pirate Mentor (a Seton Hall alumna/ae) to begin your professional network and to locate opportunities that are never publicly posted.  Pirate Mentors are located in Navigator, so you’ll need an active account.
  • Take advantage of reputable external professional networking sites such as LinkedIn.
  • Check the list of job boards posted in PirateNet as well.
  • Alumni Navigator is a web based career search system specifically for Seton Hall alumni.  Graduating students are strongly encouraged to start utilizing this resource six months prior to their graduation.
