The Career Center places a high emphasis on engaging students very early in the process of career development and self-assessment. First-year students, particularly, are strongly encouraged to participate in a variety of career education programs and services.
Career decision making is a lifelong process that is revisited throughout one's life. Choosing an academic major or selecting a potential career field can be both an exciting and overwhelming time. It involves an in-depth process of self-discovery centered on finding a fit between who you are and the world of work that interests you using the
career development process. Essential to self-discovery is
discerning one’s calling in life; reflecting one’s goals, dreams, passions, and gifts.
Seton Hall University’s Career Center offers a variety of resources to assist you in the career exploration process and gathering occupational information.
- The Pirate Career Plan assists you in defining and furthering your personal career plan to discover your calling and learn lifelong career management skills. The Pirate Career Plan explains the four phases of career development: Self and Career Exploration, Preparing for Experience, Getting Experience, and Deciding and Taking Action and provides you with key action steps for each phase to make the most of your academic career and prepare you for success post-graduation.
