Guidelines for Employment Offers
Career Center

Seton Hall University’s Career Center holds all parties involved in the recruitment of Seton Hall students to ethical recruiting practices. (See standards outlined by the Principles of Professional Conduct of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE)

To ensure that Seton Hall students have sufficient time to make decisions about employment offers, the following “Guidelines on Internship and Full-Time Employment Offers” have been adopted.

Seton Hall students will be held to professional standards during the decision making process and are invited to openly discuss their offers with Career Center staff and the hiring organization as necessary.

Guidelines on Internship and Full-Time Employment Offers

Internship/Externship Offers:

Employers recruiting in the Fall Semester and extending summer internship offers are asked to give students until December 15 to make a decision on the offer.

Full-time Offers:
Employers extending full-time job offers to students who have previously interned with the company are asked to give students until September 15 (accounting only) or November 1 to make an informed decision on the offer.

  • Employers extending full-time job offers from September to November 30 are asked to give students until December 1 to make an informed decision on the offer or three weeks from the date of the written offer, whichever comes later.

  • Employers extending full-time job offers outside of the above parameters are asked to give students a minimum of three weeks from the date of the written offer to make a decision on the offer.

Bonuses and other incentives associated with the offer should not expire before these dates.

**Any student requesting additional time beyond the deadlines outlined above should immediately consult with The Career Center in advance so that we can pro-actively support your decision making needs.
