In October, twenty-seven SHU students spent part of their fall break at an Info Session at Madison Square Garden. This "Road Trip" was organized through a collaboration between the HR team at the Garden and our Career Center staff. When they arrived, students were surprised to find that it was "Big East Media Day", and the SHU Pirate was outside of the Garden to greet them! "The Pirate really helped us get our SHU energy going before meeting the MSG staff", reported Beth Branigan, Associate Director of The Career Center.
After stopping for a 'photo opp', students headed into the MSG corporate offices to meet with the Student Associate Program management team. They described the various opportunities for interns at the Garden in departments such as Communications, Marketing, IT, Finance, MSG Live and MSG Sports. They also provided tips for students regarding what they look for in the resumes of prospective associates.
The students then spoke with three managers, including the Senior Coordinator for Corporate Events and Communication, the VP for Event Presentation for the NY Rangers, and an Account Manager, whose work at MSG involves sales and community outreach. There was ample time to ask questions of these professionals and make new connections.
MSG staff will reverse the commute when they attend the Marketing, Sports and Media Networking Event on November 17th on campus. This, and all Career Center events, are open to Seton Hall students and alumni only.
