Nurse.com Featured Seton Hall Students for Mock Disaster Drill
Seton Hall > News & Events

Leaders in Healthcare, disaster simulationNurse.com, a highly respected industry website, featured the University's School of Health and Medical Sciences and the College of Nursing for their collaboration on a mock disaster drill that took place on campus last spring in the Field House.

Leaders in Healthcare, disaster simulationThe drill, organized by the Leaders in Healthcare student group, simulated a partial roof-collapse that led to a variety of mock injuries requiring emergency attention. The purpose of the drill was to prepare students to be emergency responders by identifying the correct methods for operating at a disaster scene. The students responded to injuries portrayed, very realistically, by other students.

Following the disaster simulation, the students and faculty debriefed to discuss what they learned from the experience.

School of Health and Medical Sciences students participated to gain experience with interprofessional practice, which is an important component of the School's teaching mission related to interprofessional education (IPE).
