New Course Offered in MPA Curriculum
Seton Hall > News & Events

Dr. Jo Renee FormicolaStarting this semester, a new course offering concentrating on Campaign Management is available to students in the MPA program.

The course, taught by Dr. Jo Renee Formicola, provides students with the opportunity to do hands on work in the field of electoral politics. The class covers the major topics of branding, polling, fundraising, technology, and political communications. It will be taught through a collaborative pedagogy, with students working in teams, just as they would if they were acting as political consultants involved in an actual campaign. Fictitious candidates have also been created to simulate the realities of management that deal with personalities, issues and unexpected outside factors that contribute to the success or failure of a campaign.

Dr. Jo Renee Formicola is a professor in the Department of Political Science. She is the author of eight books, numerous peer reviewed articles, and an editorial advisor for a two academic journals. A former elected official, as well, Formicola has served as Department Chair, Acting Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, President of the New Jersey Political Science Association, President of the Northeast Political Science Association, and an evaluator for the Middle States Accreditation Association.
