D'Yonna Riley received her Bachelor of Science degree in May 2016 (Psychology Honors). She is currently a Research Analyst for Ipsos, a global market research company. Her position is within the Pharmaceuticals sector, focusing primarily on the virology therapy area, with responsibility for helping coordinate market research projects, assisting with research design, data cleaning, data analysis, writing research reports, and analyzing queries from clients.
D’Yonna’s first experience in the field was as a Clinical Psychology Intern at the Mid-Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center, where she was part of a multidisciplinary treatment team focused on the rehabilitation of chronically mentally ill patients who are "incompetent to stand trial" or "not responsible by reason of mental disease or defect." She observed therapy, attended court proceedings, reviewed Forensic Psychiatric Reports and HCR-20 Assessments, and completed progress notes and treatment plan reviews.
That experience was followed by a second internship as a Mental Health Intern at Social Clubhouse, which she received with help from The Career Center, and through their “Navigator” database. There, she assisted with counseling of individuals with Schizophrenia, Depression, Anxiety Disorder, and Bipolar Disorder. “While at this internship, I learned to be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, where it is necessary to be flexible and have good time management skills.”
On campus, D’Yonna was part of the Seton Hall Women's Soccer Team, and for two years was captain. During her senior year, she served as secretary for the Psi Chi/Psychology Club.
D’Yonna’s advice to students: “It's okay if your priorities and circumstances change. I set myself up for a career path as a clinical psychologist, but then soon after graduation I wanted to explore market research and consumer research.”
