The white coat ceremony celebrates the incoming first year students' entry into the professional phase of their studies as they start their coursework in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in the School of Health and Medical Sciences. Furthermore, the event honors the 4th year senior students as they embark on their last two clinical internships before graduation. The event traditionally includes keynote speakers, a recital and pledge to professionalism, award of certificate and donning of their white lab coats by the first year students, assisted by the senior students.
This year's honorary speaker was May Brown, PT, M.Ed, a well respected physical therapist and current member of the New Jersey licensing board for Physical Therapy. Other speakers included Doreen Stiskal PhD, program chair of the DPT program and Theresa Bartolotta, PhD, Associate Dean in the School of Health and Medical Sciences. Notable attendees at the event were Provost A. Gabriel Esteban PhD. and Vice Provost Larry Robinson, Ed.D.
