PA Student Places 1st in Writing Contest
Physician Assistant Student Katherine Footracer placed first in the Physician Assistant Education Association's 2008 Student Writing Competition. By placing first, Ms. Footracer is designated as the J. Peter Nyquist Awards Winner. Her entry, "Second Class: Immigrant Health Care," was submitted for review by PA faculty across the country who volunteer to participate in the event.
The writing contest was co-sponsored by the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, and Ms. Footracer received a $500 prize for 1st place. She presented a synopsis of her paper at the Annual Physician Assistant Conference held May 24-29, 2008 in San Antonio, TX.
In addition to Ms. Footracer's recognition, four PA student research groups presented their research at the Annual PA Conference's Poster Presentation. Of note, the poster, "Hands, Stethoscopes, and Clothing: A Look at the Hygiene Practicies of PAs in the Clinical Setting" authored by Stephanie Miller, Lisa Stickney, and Anita Liu was tied for Best in Original (Student) Research.
