Students currently enrolled in the Mobile Computing program have the opportunity to complete a series of technology skills courses each fiscal year and earn a $100 in Pirate Gold for each course completed. Students may only earn one $100 rebate per Seton Hall University fiscal year.

• Each course must be completed in succession beginning with Tech Skills 1.

This class is open to all Mobile Computing Students and consists of a 1 hour face-to-face session followed by approximately 2 hours of online instruction in Blackboard. Upon completion, students will be required to pass a culminating exam demonstrating their knowledge to care for and maintain their laptop.


To begin, you must register for the face-to-face session.

Classes are offered throughout the semester at several different times to accommodate your schedule.

Additional classes will be added as needed.






If you successfully complete Tech Skills 1, you will be eligible to take Tech Skills 2 beginning next July. You will be notified via e-mail when you can take Tech Skills II.

Tech Skills 2 is entirely online, with no face-to-face time required. You can take the course at your leisure through Blackboard.

Eligibility Requirements

• You must be in the SHU Mobile Computing Program

• You must be paying the full technology fee per semester

• You cannot have received a rebate for a Tech Skills class during the current SHU fiscal year

Participants can only receive one rebate per Seton Hall University fiscal year. The SHU fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30. (i.e If you receive a rebate in September of a particular year, you are not eligible for another rebate until the following July). The rebate will be posted to your Pirate Gold Account.
