FrontPage Discussion Groups Discontinued

To the University community:
The home page authoring tool FrontPage allows users to create discussion groups, simple web-based message forums, on pirate.shu.edu. Unfortunately these groups are unmoderated and offer no protection against offensive postings or Internet spam from outside the University network. Due to the significant increase in spam over the past year, it is necessary to discontinue support for the message group feature on the Pirate server. Existing discussion groups will be disabled as of Tuesday, May 29.
Tips on alternate web discussion thread solutions are available through the Teaching, Learning & Technology Center. For more information, contact the TLT Center at 973-275-2929.
If you have questions, comments, or concerns about the planned change, please contact Dan Svitavsky, Systems Support, University IT Services, at 973-761-9686 or svitavda@shu.edu. If you have other problems or questions related to the Pirate home page service, please contact University IT Services at x2222 for assistance.
