Susan Spencer, Program Director of the SetonWorldWide Master of Healthcare Administration Program co-presented a paper with Dr. Anne Hewitt entitled "Learning in a Virtual Environment: Managing Emergency Preparedness and Health Security Using Second Life as a Teaching Tool" at the at 2008 Technology, Colleges & Community Worldwide Online Conference on April 16, 2008. The theme of the 2008 conference was "The New Internet: Collaboration, Convergence, Creativity, Contrast, and Challenges."
Dr. Spencer’s co-presentation addressed the successful integration of a virtual learning scenario in a Master in Healthcare Administration course using the Second Life platform. This presentation discussed the advantages of virtual learning with Second Life, described the scenario development process using the Play2Train platform, demonstrated how problem based learning applies to emergency preparedness planning and management and identified best practices for graduate course integration.
