Dr. Abe Zakhem

Dr. Abe Zakhem, Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy, developed an online version of the Business Ethics course (PHIL 1125) currently being offered this spring 2008 semester with the help of Renee M. Cicchino, Sr. Instructional Designer in the Teaching, Learning and Technology Center. The exemplar course, built on the Quality Matters rubric, uses innovative discussion techniques and multi-media combined with rigorous learning standards was highlighted at the 9th Annual Faculty Best Practices Showcase: Integrating Technology into Teaching and Learning sponsored by NJEdge.net. Dr. Zakhem’s background in business ethics and quality assurance methods coupled with Miss Cicchino’s experience in online course development and instructional design techniques awarded them a nod at the annual showcase.

The Annual Faculty Best Practices Showcase brings together faculty throughout New Jersey to share best practices in using technology, new instructional methodologies, and creative pedagogical approaches to teaching and learning for face to face, hybrid and online courses. The online Business Ethics course was developed from a grant offered through the Teaching, Learning, and Technology Center and the Dean’s Office of the College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Zakhem and Miss Cicchino presented this course on March 18, 2008 at the Rothman Center, Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Metropolitan Campus in Hackensack, NJ.
