Do you miss the fun times from New Year’s celebrations? Now with China Night 2008, there is no need to wait for another year! Asian Studies Department invites you to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year at 7 p.m. on February 7 in the Jubilee Auditorium. This event offers you an opportunity to immerse yourself in Asian cultures, in particular, the Chinese culture.
The Taiko Drum performance warms up the event with a multi-cultural atmosphere. The entertaining yet educational skits show you the traditions, norms, and how Chinese from different areas celebrate the festival. And if you are a fan of Chinese Kung Fu, you do not want to miss this event because students from the department and outside performing groups are going to impress you with their kicks and punches! You may even learn a few secret moves!
If you are looking for something a bit more relaxed, Chinese yo-yo will be the perfect choice. Moreover, folk songs, traditional dances, and a Chinese fashion show will bring you into a world filled with joy and colorful costumes. In between all these wonderful performances, there are three prize drawings offering you a chance to bring home with not only joyful memories but also pocketful of Chinese New Year presents.
