The How, Why, When and When Not of E-mail
Wednesday, January 23, 5:30 p.m., Jubilee Hall Auditorium.
As technology and communication continue to be key aspects of our
personal and professional lives, effectively communicating through
e-mail is vital. In this interactive presentation, authors David
Shipley and Will Schwalbe, share tips from their book Send: The Essential Guide to e-mail for Office and
Home.
Some of the topics the authors will discuss include:
- Why we e-mail so badly
- How to write the perfect e-mail
- The emotional e-mail
- The e-mail that can land you in jail

About the Authors
David Shipley, deputy editorial page editor and Op-Ed page editor of
The New York Times, has also served as national enterprise editor and
senior editor at The New York Times Magazine. In addition, Shipley
worked as a senior presidential speechwriter in the Clinton
administration.
Will Schwalbe, senior vice president and editor in chief of Hyperion
Books, has written articles and reviews for several publications
including The New York Times, Ms. Magazine and Business Traveller Asia.
This event is hosted by the Department of Information Technology, the
Stillman School of Business and The Career Center.
