Brunch with Freshman Studies
Seton Hall > News & Events

ParentsFreshman Studies collaborated with University Advancement on Saturday, November 16 and hosted ninety-two parents of current freshmen. The parents were invited to share a brunch with mentors and peer advisers from Freshman Studies and then attend two condensed University Life classes. McNulty Atrium served as a warm and welcoming venue for the brunch, and then the parents were led over to Mooney Hall where they attended "classes." Specific topics included a review of the University Life syllabus, demonstration of the eportfolio required of all students and an exercise in determining a personal mission statement. These are topics that freshmen complete during their University Life class, so the parents were able to become acquainted with these assignments in the course. University Life is the only course required of all students at Seton Hall, and the parents were excited to become familiar with it.

ParentsAdditionally, the roles of the mentors and peer advisers became clearer to the parents along with a more definitive understanding of the holistic approach of Freshman Studies in their students' first year and beyond.
