The Institute of Judaeo-Christian Studies is hosting the Twentieth John M. Oesterreicher Memorial Lecture at Seton Hall University with special keynote speaker, The Reverend Thomas F. Stransky, C.S.P. All are invited to join in celebrating the Institute's 60th anniversary and attend this lecture, which will take place on October 27, 2013 from 2:30-5:30 p.m. in the Jubilee Auditorium.
Father Stransky, rector emeritus of Tantur Ecumenical Institute of Theological Studies (Jerusalem) and former President of the Paulist Fathers, will deliver the keynote address, "The Genesis of Vatican Council II’s Declaration on the Jewish People (Nostra Aetate): An Insider’s View."
As one of the original staff members of the Secretariat for the Promotion of Christian Unity who was responsible for staffing the proposal that would become the Declaration on the Relation of the Church to Non-Christian Religions (Nostra Aetate), Father Stransky will provide a unique perspective and direct witness to the many complexities involved in answering Pope John XXIII’s call for a statement on the Jews.
The event is free and open to the public. Please RSVP via Facebook or by contacting Lawrence Frizzell at firstname.lastname@example.org or (973) 761-9751.
