Students Dorm RoomGreetings Colleagues from Housing & Residence Life!

The Department of Housing and Residence Life at Seton Hall University would like to extend an invitation to all administration, faculty, and staff to participate in the 9th Annual "Residence Hall House Calls". This initiative began as a means to connect our new students with members of the Seton Hall community. We have found that the first-year student population feel more invested in the University when they become acquainted with various individuals who help make SHU a strong community.

This is why HRL invites any and all Seton Hall faculty, staff and administrators into the Residence Halls to go door to door to talk to our first year students, see how they are adjusting to life on campus, and answer any questions they might have on their minds. It is a wonderful program and a few minutes of conversation can make a difference in the experience of our first-year student population. Our hope is for Seton Hall students to gain an understanding about the resources they have available to them, the personnel around to assist them, and that they are not alone in their four-year experience at the university.

As a faculty member, administrator or staff member we know that students are the most important people to Seton Hall; they are the purpose of our work and a chief component of the servant leadership that we emphasize and practice. The Residence Hall House Calls program is a small way to show our students that they are valued at Seton Hall and assists them in their transition
to college life.

We invite you to help us make the 9th Annual Residence Hall House Calls Program a success! The date of the Residence Hall House Calls will be Wednesday, September 25, 2013. The training for the event will take place over dinner at 6 p.m. in the University Club and the House Calls will begin in Aquinas, Boland, Neumann and on the Sophomore Discovery Program floor in Xavier Hall at around 7:30 p.m. Each faculty, staff or administrator will be assigned to a particular floor and will have about 30 doors to knock on together. As a participant in this rewarding event, you will receive a free gift and our thanks for your time and effort!

If interested please e-mail Residence Coordinator Brian O'Malley by Monday, September 23, 2013 at brian.omalley@shu.edu. You will receive a confirmation e-mail and more specific details a few days before the event.

If there are other faculty, staff members, or administrators that you know whom you would like to be paired with that evening, please indicate so in your e-mail. Both individuals must request one another to be paired up for the House Calls program.

Thank you for considering taking part in this year's Residence Hall House Calls!
