Data VisualizationThe Department of Mathematics and Computer Science and the Department of Psychology are pleased to announce that the pioneering undergraduate and graduate certificate programs in Data Visualization and Analysis (DAVA) can now be taken completely online! Students also have the option of enrolling in these exciting programs on Seton Hall’s South Orange Campus.

The certificates in Data Visualization and Analysis provide students with an opportunity to learn how to analyze and to portray data in an attractive and vivid design format. The courses focus on preparing students to analyze real world data with statistics and machine-learning tools, in order to study data and present findings. "This program is perfect for students who want to break into the information-based economy of the 21st Century," says Manfred Minimair, Ph.D. and program director. "As a society, more and more data is being collected and we need professionals who can make effective determinations as to what needs to be analyzed and visualized."

The undergraduate and graduate DAVA certificates are each 18 credits, designed to be convenient and flexible. Undergraduate students can fulfill the University's information fluency proficiency requirement through the Data Mining course; students who take the program on the South Orange campus select a required elective in graphics, communication, or applications.

Although this cutting-edge program was only established during the 2012-2013 academic year, it already shows great promise. Dr. Minimair explains that, "the demand for graduates of the certificate programs is obvious, given the growing importance of data in our society." As a result of their experiences in the program last year, all of the students who elected to pursue a paid internship in a related field were successful.

Take classes online or in-person today! All interested candidates are encouraged to apply.
