Nursing Inducts Students into Honor Society

2013 Gamma Nu InductionSeton Hall University College of Nursing recently inducted students into Gamma Nu chapter, The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (Gamma Nu) for academic year 2012-2013. The event was held at the Manor in West Orange, NJ at the end of spring semester and included a keynote address from Connie Sobon Sensor, M.S.N., R.N., CTN-A, entitled, "My Professional Leadership Journey with the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International."

Carolyn Rummel, Ph.D., R.N., President of Gamma Nu, was extremely proud of the Seton Hall students. She noted, "This event signifies your academic achievements; we recognize all of the hard work and struggles that nursing students face within Seton Hall’s rigorous curricula and this is a night to celebrate your success!"

Dorothy Carolina, Ph.D., R.N., Vice President and Induction Chairperson added, "Belonging to Sigma Theta Tau International is a special honor and this network will be a place of support for all of you throughout your nursing career."

Students enrolled at Seton Hall University College of Nursing must meet the following criteria to be admitted to Gamma Nu: 

Undergraduate Students must:

  • Have completed ½ of the nursing curriculum;
  • Achieve academic excellence (at schools where a 4.0 grade point average system is used, this equates to a 3.0 or higher);
  • Rank in the upper 35 percentile of the graduating class; 
  • Meet the expectation of academic integrity.

Registered Nurse Students must:

  • Have completed 12 credit hours at current school;
  • Have completed ½ of the nursing curriculum;
  • Achieve academic excellence (at schools where a 4.0 grade point average system is used, this equates to a 3.0 or higher);
  • Rank in the upper 35 percentile of graduating class;
  • Meet the expectation of academic integrity.

Graduate (master’s and doctorate) Students must:

  • Have completed ¼ of the nursing curriculum; 
  • Achieve academic excellence (at schools where a 4.0 grade point average system is used, this equates to a 3.5 or higher);
  • Meet the expectation of academic integrity.
