Seton Hall in VeniceThe Charles and Joan Alberto Italian Studies Institute is pleased to announce a two-day International Conference, titled "Readers and Spectators in Italy: The Formation of a National Audience (1750-1890)", taking place in Venice on May 17-18, 2013 at the Papafava Palace. Dr. Gabriella Romani is the organizer together with colleagues in Italian Studies from the University of Warwick (UK). 

This is part of a long-standing project of research which began at Seton Hall with a conference in 2008 and which has produced a volume of essays (published in 2011 by Legenda, UK), a seminar conducted with Graduate students on Feb 17, 2012 at the Institute of Advanced Studies at the University of Warwick and the up-coming conference. Speakers from the US (Harvard, St. Joseph's, Temple, Penn, Mount Holyoke College), Europe (Durham, Leeds, Warwick, Padua, Freie Universität Berlin, American University of Rome, Moscow) and Australia (Monash) will participate to the conference.
