CEHS Hosts Kids at College
The College of Education and Human Services (CEHS) successfully hosted its third annual Kids at College event at Seton Hall University.
"Kids at College is a collaborative effort between the Old Bridge Township Public School System and local colleges and universities. Students in the fourth grade are introduced to the concept of higher education through various classroom lessons and activities" (Old Bridge Township Schools).
The CEHS hosted 54 fourth graders from Cheesequake Elementary School and gave them a snapshot of college life at Seton Hall University. Cheesequake students spoke with Dean Grace May, toured the campus, met with students and actively participated in small group lessons given by students in Dr. Alisa Hindin's Language Arts II – Upper Elementary Years course. Students rotated to various language activity stations including an iPad station where they used images of the campus and vocabulary to express their impressions and expectations of college.
Other university partners for Kids at College include: Princeton University, Middlesex County, Kean University, Rutgers State University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Georgian Court University, and the University of Medicine and Dentistry, New Jersey.
