Student Winners Celebrated at Women's Conference
The On the Shoulders We Stand Award recognizes an undergraduate and a
graduate female student for their commitment to serving the needs of
women and for being leaders in the Seton Hall community.
This year's award will be presented to Amanda Gagne, diplomacy major
and a women's studies minor, member of the Class of 2015, and Samantha
S. Singh, a candidate for the M.S. in nursing, Class of 2013.
Amanda Gagne is the first Half the Sky Ambassador for Seton
Hall University, president of Women for Women International, secretary
for Amnesty International, and a member of Women for Afghan Women. In
only her second year of college she has already inspired other female
students to learn more about and work on behalf of women locally and
internationally through her zealous example, event and programming
initiatives as well as her motivation and drive.
Samantha Singh is the first nursing student invited to present
at the Robert Wood Johnson Symposium, the promoter for the first Ladies
in Red Heart Healthy program, and a member of the healthcare steering
committee for Essex County. She has the vision and the direction to make
an impact on women's health issues now and in her future.
Both, Gagne and Singh inspire and support women on campus and are
great examples. They will be celebrated at the University's 2013 Women's
Conference and at the Women's Appreciation Dinner.
