Public Relations and Marketing Welcomes New Associate Vice President

Public Relations and Marketing PresidentThe University is pleased to welcome Dan Kalmanson as its new Associate Vice President for Public Relations and Marketing. In this role, Dan will be heading up a staff that includes media relations, publications, marketing, Web development, and event planning for the University. PR & Marketing is based at the Ring Building and is part of University Advancement.

Dan comes to Seton Hall from the University of New Haven, where he served as the Associate Vice President for Communications and Public Affairs for the past three and a half years. While at UNH, Dan was responsible for managing media relations, alumni and development communications, marketing strategy and community relations. During his tenure at UNH, Dan played a major role in helping to raise the University’s national profile and reputation, making the communications office more proactive and strategic, and enhancing its alumni and donor communications as well as community outreach.

Prior to UNH, Dan was Associate Vice President for Communications at the University of Richmond, where he helped to move the University up from the regional comprehensive university rankings in U.S. News & World Report to the top 50 national liberal arts university rankings. He also helped get the University recognized in Newsweek as “One of America’s Hottest Colleges.” In addition, he managed communications for Richmond’s “Transforming Bright Minds” fundraising campaign that surpassed its $200 million goal a year and half ahead of schedule. Prior to working at Richmond, Dan served in various senior communications roles at the University of Miami, Florida International University and Florida State University.

Early in his career, Dan was an award-winning television reporter and documentary producer. A former National Merit scholar, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Loyola University of New Orleans and his master’s from the University of Southern California. A native of Miami, Dan and his wife recently moved to South Orange.
