SHMS Announces Director of PR, Marketing and Special Events

Lori RileyThe School of Health and Medical Sciences (SHMS) is happy to announce a new Director of Public Relations, Marketing, and Special Events. Lori Riley joined SHMS on January 2, 2013 as the Director of Public Relations, Marketing, and Special Events. She comes to us following a six‐year career at Rutgers University, where she was a Communications Specialist for the Rutgers University Alumni Association and the Department of Alumni Relations.

At Rutgers, Lori was a key leader on the alumni communications team and has diverse experience developing and executing integrated marketing communications campaigns for events and programs, volunteer opportunities, and the alumni benefits program. Lori was the Associate Alumni Editor of Rutgers Magazine, published three times per year for 380,000 alumni and friends; the editor for two alumni e‐newsletters; and the lead writer/editor throughout the department. She was the marketing project manager for several signature events including the 25th Anniversary Rutgers Hall of Distinguished Alumni Awards Gala and the Fourth Annual Alumni Leaders Conference. Her alumni engagement experience also includes serving as the staff partner to a network of 75 alumni volunteers who wrote columns for the magazine and served as university ambassadors.

Prior to working at Rutgers, Lori received an M.A. in Corporate and Public Communication at Seton Hall University. During this time she worked as a Graduate Assistant in the University’s Department of Public Relations and Marketing, where she served as Assistant Editor of Seton Hall Magazine and editor of the Pirate Press alumni e‐newsletter. Lori received a B.A. in journalism/media studies and anthropology (double major) from Rutgers College of Rutgers University.

She currently lives in Somerset, New Jersey, with her husband, Sean. We are excited to have Lori on board!
