Seton Hall > News & Events

Dr. John J. Mitchell The College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Health and Medical Sciences are jointly sponsoring a Memorial Service to honor Dr. John J. Mitchell, Jr. who served as a faculty member in the College and then in the School of Health and Medical Services until his sudden death on October 2, 2012. Dr. Mitchell was a distinguished colleague and community leader for many years at Seton Hall. From the time of his initial appointment to Seton Hall in 1977, Dr. Mitchell was a strong and forceful advocate for social justice and faculty rights. His work as a bioethicist was valued by his students, colleagues, medical practitioners, and the many people who were touched by his incisive and thoughtful judgments on the ethics of good medical care. This service gives the Seton Hall community and many others the opportunity to celebrate the life and work of a man who gave unstintingly of himself for the benefit of the community in incalculable ways.
