About Marty Appel:

Marty Appel, whose firm Marty Appel Public Relations handles PR for the Seton Hall Sports Poll, is a well known figure on the New York sports scene and well identified with the New York Yankees, for whom he began his career in public relations in 1968. By 1973 he was the youngest PR Director in Major League Baseball history, and the first under George M. Steinbrenner III. His direct connection to the Yankees extended to 1992 as both PR Director and Executive Producer of the team's telecasts on WPIX New York, but he continues his association as a contributor to Yankeeographies on YES Network, as a broadcaster on Yankees.com (Yankees on Demand), as a contributor to Yankees Magazine and other team publications.

Appel is the author of 18 books and countless magazine articles, including collaborations with baseball commissioner Bowie Kuhn, CNN's Larry King, Tom Seaver, umpire Eric Gregg, and Thurman Munson. His biography of Munson was a New York Times best-seller, and his memoir, Now Pitching for the Yankees, was ESPN's best New York baseball book of 2002.

He was a consultant to 61* (HBO) and The Bronx is Burning (ESPN). He founded his own PR agency in 1998.

Books will be available for purchase.

The event is sponsored by The Sport Management Student Association.
