RAD Training

radThe Division of Student Services is offering free RAD training to female members of the University community. The Rape Aggression Defense course is a self-defense program designed to empower women by educating them about risk awareness, risk avoidance, risk recognition and risk reduction. RAD is an intensive program that utilizes martial arts as a practical means of defense in a variety of circumstances. To date, it has been taught to over 250,000 women in colleges and civic programs across North America. 

We are currently accepting women for the next class which will be held in four sessions for the following dates: 

  • Monday, February 6
    5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., Main Lounge, University Center
  • Wednesday, February 8
    5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., Main Lounge, University Center
  • Thursday, February 9
    5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., Main Lounge, University Center
  • Saturday, February 11
    9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Faculty Lounge, University Center

This class is open to all female students, employees, staff and faculty who will receive training and instruction manuals at no cost. Participants must attend the first three sessions at a minimum and will then be eligible to practice in any RAD program, anywhere in the country, free-for life. The optional fourth class is a simulated full-contact exercise where participants will be able to use the RAD techniques and strategies on our specially trained instructors.
