On Saturday, March 19, 2011 hundreds of alumni and friends from around the
country gathered on campus to honor one of Seton Hall’s most beloved professors.
After 50 years at Seton Hall as a student, faculty member and theatre director, will be retiring at the end of this academic year. The event,
titled “It’s Been a Little Bit of Heaven Here on Earth,” included a variety of
presentations and ended with a series of remarks honoring McGlone in the
Theatre-in-the-Round, where he has directed countless shows both with Seton Hall
students and the Celtic Theatre Company, which he founded.
Cast member, students, fellow faculty, family and friends from throughout
McGlone’s years at Seton Hall came together to honor the man they affectionately
refer to as “Doc.”
“There are people in our life that we meet that we know we will never forget
& Doc McGlone is one of those people to hundreds of Seton Hall alumni,” said
Mark Roger ’82, who worked with the Alumni Relations office to plan the event.
“He has touched our lives for good...and I know I am just one of many that truly
love the man!”
Nick Sena, Assistant Director of Alumni Relations said, “The success of the
celebration for Dr. McGlone is an example of the impact professors can make on
the lives of their students. I heard countless stories from the alumni in
attendance on how “Doc” made a lasting impression on them. It is a testament to
him that the event had alumni there from all areas of the country and of all
The Seton Hall family wishes “Doc” the best in his retirement. Words cannot
express the gratitude and thanks that he deserves for everything he has done for
our great University.
