About Mayor Cory Booker

Mayor Booker, named by US News and World Report in April 2006 as one of America's Best Leaders, has spent his entire professional life in Newark. Prior to his election as Mayor, he was a Staff Attorney for the Urban Justice Center and a Program Coordinator of the Newark Youth Project. During his four years of service as Newark's Central Ward Councilman, he earned a reputation as a leader with innovative ideas and bold actions. His dreams and energy bring tremendous hope to all of us, whether we are citizens of Newark, of New Jersey, or the United States. His discussion on integrity and ethics, amidst the work he has undertaken thus far in his tenure as Mayor and the initiatives still before him, will provide all of us a superb opportunity to learn from one of the great leaders of our time.
