The national Truman Scholarship Foundation has named two Seton Hall University undergraduates as National Finalists in the competition for a Truman Scholarship. Margaret Dougherty, a junior majoring in Diplomacy and International Relations, and Durelle Hill, a junior majoring in Criminal Justice and Sociology, will both interview with a national Truman Committee as part of the last stage of the competition. This accomplishment is quite significant as it places the two scholars among a very select group of 200 elite students nationwide.
Margaret and Durelle are now working to prepare for their Finalist-level interviews. The Truman Foundation assigned Margaret to interview in a group of finalists that will meet in Kansas City, Missouri, on March 8, while Durelle will be interviewing with a similar group in Philadelphia on March 19. In each case, the interviewing panel will include a number of distinguished citizens, typically including university presidents, high-level public servants, judges, and past Truman scholars.
