On the weekend of September 26-27, 2009 four returning students, Emily Coady '10, D. Nicole Dalton '11, Justin Helmley '11, and Ryan Dicovitsky '11 travelled to Towson University to compete in a swing tournament (two tournaments in one weekend). With only four students they earned third and second place team respectively. Their combined awards totaled 17 in all.
The entire squad was eager to travel together to George Mason University in Fairfax, VA the first weekend in October for yet another swing forensics tournament. With returning senior member Eric Miller '10 and sophomore, Caleb Barnhart '12, the team reigned victorious. The team earned First Place Sweepstakes for the entire weekend of competition. Nine colleges competed at the swing tournament including New York University, St. Joseph's University , University of Akron and James Madison University. Besides earning First Place Team, the students brought home a total of 28 awards. The individual accolades and championships were plentiful! Examples include: Emily Coady '10 earned second place in Impromptu Speaking. Justin Helmley '11 earned a second place in Dramatic Interpretation. D. Nicole Dalton '11 placed second in Prose Interpretation and third place in Program Oral Interpretation. Eric Miller '10 took second in Extemporaneous Speaking and After Dinner Speaking.
