To begin the 2009-2010 theatre season, nearly 20 students are set to perform in the hilarious comedy, You Can’t Take It With You presented by the Department of Communication and the Seton Hall Arts Council.
When the conservative family of a Wall Street banker meets the wildly liberal and eccentric one of his would-be brides, comedic sparks fly in a series of "hilarious incongruities…" (New York Times). This American comedy classic, written by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, won a Pulitzer Prize and was the pair’s most successful collaboration. Set against the backdrop of the Great Depression, You Can't Take It With You opened in New York in 1936 to instant critical and popular acclaim. Its wacky examination of the pursuit of happiness has timeless appeal.
The play will be performed in the Theatre-in-the-Round in the Bishop Dougherty University Center on October 23, 24, 30, and 31 at 8 p.m. and on October 25 and November 1 at 2 p.m.
Directed by Dr. James P. McGlone, the talented ensemble features Megan Hanson ‘12, Peter Chacanias ‘11, Matt Giroveanu ‘11, Bill Torres ‘13, and Rob Huryk ‘10.
