Tuazon, Johnson-Hayward Shine at CoN Alumni Event

On Thursday, September 17, the College of Nursing and the Office of Alumni Relations honored two alumni for their outstanding contributions to the field of nursing during the 2009 Margaret C. Haley Awards at the Highlawn Pavilion in West Orange, New Jersey.

Dean Phyllis Hansell presented Nelson Tuazon, M.S.N. '94, R.N. with the Margaret C. Haley Award.  Tuazon is Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at East Orange General Hospital, where he is responsible for day-to-day administrative and executive operations. 

Tuazon has worked as a leader in healthcare education and administration for over 25 years.  Before completing his Masters at Seton Hall, he received his B.S.N. from Angeles University in the Philippines and his M.B.A. from Monmouth University.

The Elizabeth Ann Seton Young Alumnus Award was given to Ingrid Johnson-Hayward '03/M.S.N. '07, Bed Manager at Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey.  Johnson-Hayward is currently working on her Ph.D. in Nursing at Seton Hall. She also serves as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.

Both honorees expressed gratitude to their families and the faculty in the College of Nursing for their success and determination in the field.  The Margaret C. Haley Award is given in honor of the College of Nursing's second Dean, whose brilliance and elegance are a constant inspiration to the College. The Elizabeth Ann Seton Young Alumnus Award is given to an alumnus who has made great strides and shows great promise in the field of nursing.
