Summer Re-Cap, Alumni News and Events
Seton Hall > News & Events

Early in the summer, Monsignor Robert Sheeran announced to the University community that he would step down as President in June, 2010 after 15 years at Seton Hall's helm. Since that announcement the University has taken several steps to begin the search for Monsignor's successor, including contracting a national search firm to assist in the effort. Joseph P. LaSala, member of the University's Board of Regents, has been named as Chair of the Presidential Search and Screen Committee. The Board of Regents has chosen the members of that committee, a full list can be found on the newly launched Presidential Transition Web site.

Alumni, students, employees and friends are asked to share their favorite stories and memories  of Monsignor Sheeran's tenure at Seton Hall.

The Fourth Annual Chicagoland Alumni and Friends Golf Outing, held on June 12, raised over $4000 for student scholarships. The event, organized by local graduates, drew over 30 alumni, parents, students and friends for a day of golf followed by a silent auction and dinner. The funds raised will benefit students from the Midwest who attend Seton Hall. Read more and see pictures from the event.

Over 350 alumni attended the 26th Annual Summer Reunion at Bar Anticipation in Belmar, NJ on July 25. The attendance, the highest in several years, was bolstered by members of the class of 1984, who chose to hold their 25th reunion at the event. The annual celebration `down the shore' is open to all alumni, and also serves as the 5th reunion of each class.

The Student Alumni Association, organizers of My Time… the Seton Hall Traditions Project, hit the road to conduct video interviews of alumni in Cleveland, OH and Chicago, IL. The trip, part of the group's Tradition Road Trips series, was the first of many that will allow current University students to interview graduates about their Seton Hall experiences. The Student Alumni Association will be conducting video interviews at various Seton Hall events over the next two years, including University Day on October 3. Examples of the video interviews are currently available on YouTube.

The summer also saw a variety of news and announcements regarding athletics, faculty research, events, scholarship, student achievement and much more.
