The continual flow of immigrants to the United States has created a diversified texture for American Catholicism. This lecture will explore some of the challenges faced by Catholic immigrants to the United States, as well as the contributions they have made, and the ongoing issues that affect American Catholic immigration today. Special attention will be paid to the New Jersey metropolitan area.

Rev. Msgr. Raymond Kupke, Ph.D., is an Adjunct Professor of Church History at Seton Hall University's Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology and is Pastor of Holy Family Parish in Florham Park. Msgr. Kupke earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in Church History from The Catholic University of America and has pursued Archival Studies at New York University. Among the classes that he teaches are World Christianity, American Christianity and History of Christianity. He is the Paterson Diocesan Archivist and has taught in the Diaconate Training Program for the Newark Archdiocese and the Paterson Diocese. He has taught for the Education for Parish Service program (EPS) in New York, Connecticut and Virginia and for our Seminary's Theological Education for Parish Services (STEPS) program in Ridgewood. Msgr. Kupke has lectured on various historical religious topics in the New York metropolitan area and has edited, contributed to and authored publications on Church History.
