Kassimous and Sheeran
In recognition of his commitment to human rights and advocating for change in the United States and Africa, the University and the John C. Whitehead School of Diplomacy and International Relations was privileged to present Dosso Kassimou, M.P.A./M.A.D.I.R. `07 with the 2009 Many Are One Alumni Service Award.

Born and raised in Cote d'Ivoire (West Africa), Kassimou witnessed corruption, poor governance, lack of democracy and extreme poverty. This experience nurtured his desire to strive for a better life while fighting for basic human rights for others.

While working toward a dual master's degree in diplomacy and international relations and public administration, Kassimou was a busy and active student. He was the president and co-founder of Seton Hall's African Student Association, the president of Pi Alpha Alpha National Honor Society for Public Affairs and a coordinator for Americans for Informed Democracy.

In 2007, Kassimou was appointed by Mayor Cory A. Booker as the first president of the African Commission in the City of Newark. Kassimou is also the founder and executive director of Sandji, a nonprofit organization promoting peace, economic development and social change in Africa. The organization hosts soccer tournaments for peace building and reconciliation among many West African villages. It also donates basic medication to prevent and treat malaria and other common tropical diseases. In December, Sandji helped build a primary school in the village of Korezouzoua that will educate 500 children.

Currently, Kassimou is the director of international trade for Overclas.SL., a concrete company based in Barcelona, Spain.
