College of Nursing Earns Maximum Reaccreditation
Seton Hall > News & Events

In April 2009, the Commission on Collegiate Education (CCNE) granted the College of Nursing reaccreditation for the next 10 years -- the maximum number of years for which accreditation can be earned. Included in this reaccreditation is the College's B.S.N. program and all of its M.S.N. programs, including the master's-level entry-into-practice degree.

The College of Nursing voluntarily applied for reaccreditation by the CCNE as part of its ongoing self-evaluative processes.

According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing's Web site, CCNE is “officially recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a national accreditation agency." Part of the mission of CCNE is to “ensure the quality and integrity of baccalaureate and graduate education programs preparing effective nurses. CCNE serves the public interest by assessing and identifying programs that engage in effective educational practices.”

CCNE is an autonomous accrediting agency contributing to the improvement of the public's health. As a voluntary, self-regulatory process, CCNE accreditation supports and encourages continuing self-assessment by nursing education programs and the continuing growth and improvement of collegiate professional education.
