Lunas Life
On Wednesday, May 27 at 7 p.m. in Jubilee Hall, Seton Hall University President Monsignor Robert Sheeran and the Sister Rose Thering Endowment for Jewish-Christian and Holocaust Studies (SRTE) will join with Eli Zborowski, chairman of the American Society for Yad Vashem, and Dr. Susanna Kokkonen, director of the Christian Friends of Yad Vashem, to celebrate the publication of Luna Kaufman's memoirs, Luna's Life.

After the program Luna Kaufman, author and chairman emerita of the SRTE board, will sign her book during a reception in the Jubilee Hall Atrium. The program is open to the public.

Luna Kaufman is a Jewish woman who was born in Krakow, Poland and survived the labor and death camps of the Holocaust with only one other family member, her mother. After the war she was determined to embrace life in forgiveness and reconciliation. She returned to Poland and completed her education at Jagellonian University and the Music Conservatory. She emigrated to Israel in 1951, and a year later came to the United States and eventually settled in New Jersey with her family.

Seton Hall University proudly awarded Luna Kaufman the degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa, on May 11, 2009.
