On Wednesday, April 15, 2009, the Department of Biological Sciences will hold its 2nd Annual Biological Sciences Symposium at Seton Hall University. The Symposium will be held in the atrium and auditorium of the Science and Technology Center (McNulty Hall) at 4 - 7 p.m.
The symposium will be highlighting the research and scholarship of our graduate and undergraduate students. We will have a poster session for students to present their research and a keynote lecture. The funding of this keynote lecture is supported by the College of Arts and Science thanks to the generous support of the President Advisory Council members.
The distinguished speaker, Dr. Lakshmi A. Devi, is the president of International Narcotics Research Conference and professor of the Department of Pharmacology and Biological Chemistry at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Her keynote lecture is entitled "Opioid Receptor Heterodimers as Novel Therapeutic Targets for Analgesia and Addiction."
To enhance and enrich our Seton Hall student scholarship, the Department of Biological Sciences will also launch the Biology Student Travel Award. This award will be named in honor of Professor Emeritus, Dr. Linda Hsu, and will provide funds for students to present their research at national or international meetings.
