Barbara Weinstein Delivers Phi Alpha Theta Lecture April 22 Seton Hall > News & Events Tuesday, April 7, 2009 by: Kirsten Schultz, Ph.D. The Department of History will induct six new student members into the Seton Hall University chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honors society on April 22 at 5:30 p.m.
At the induction ceremony Barbara Weinstein, Ph.D., Professor of History at New York University and President of The American Historical Association (2007) will deliver the annual Phi Alpha Theta lecture entitled "Slave Catchers v. Slaveowners: History and Regional Mythmaking in 20th-century Brazil."
Weinstein is the author of numerous articles and books on Brazil and Latin America including For Social Peace in Brazil: Industrialists and the Remaking of the Working Class, São Paulo, 1920-1964 (1997). Her presidential address to The American Historical Association, "Developing Inequality" was published in The American Historical Review (February 2008).
The event will take place in the Beck Rooms, Walsh Library. All are welcome to join.
