Calling all Alumni: Help SHU Students Traveling to Haiti
Seton Hall > News & Events

Calling all Alumni! Your help is needed to assist Seton Hall students traveling to do service in Haiti this summer. Please take a moment to learn a bit about the work that these incredible students will do at Haitian orphanages during their travels, and how you can help them in their efforts.   About the program: For the past 6 years, the Division of Volunteer Efforts has run an international service trip to El Salvador. The DOVE service trip to Haiti is a new program for the 2008-2009 school year.   Students must apply and interview for a spot on the trip. After acceptance, they are required to attend weekly meetings and fundraise $1300 to cover trip expenses.      In Haiti, the group will volunteer at several service sites, and will be housed at the Maison Fortuné Orphanage, located in Hinche on the central plateau. Students will play soccer with the kids, teach English classes and help out with any special needs of the orphanage. Students will also be volunteering at the local Missionaries of Charity hospital.   Learn more about DOVE's programs »   How you can help: Alumni are asked to donate any of the items found on the list below. The items will be used in projects and distributed by the student volunteers at the various locations visited during this service project.   Any quantity of any item will be greatly appreciated.
