On March 3rd at SOPAC, Seton Hall University's Arts Council will
present the internationally renowned Brentano String Quartet in a
concert featuring "The Seven Last Words of Christ" by Haydn with poetry
by Mark Strand.
Actor Walter Van Dyke will narrate. A special pre-concert lecture,
free to the public, will be given by Robert Waters, Assistant Professor
of Music History at Seton Hall University and former music critic of
The Washington Post.
The lecture begins at 6:30 PM and the concert begins at 7:30 PM.
Tickets for this concert are $25, $15 for seniors and $8 for all Seton
Hall students, employees and faculty. Call the SOPAC Box Office to

"The Seven Last Words of Christ" features seven meditations on the
last words of Jesus Christ. The piece was commissioned in 1787 for
performance on Good Friday. More than two centuries later, The Brentano
String Quartet commissioned poetry from the celebrated poet and
Pulitzer Prize winner, Mark Strand to accompany Haydn's extraordinary
