Seton Hall Undergraduate is a Truman Finalist
Seton Hall > News & Events

A Seton Hall University undergraduate has been named a Finalist in the competition for a Truman Scholarship. Jacie Jones, a junior with a dual major in Political Science / Environmental Studies as well as in Diplomacy & International Relations, will interview with the national Truman committee as part of the last stage of the competition. Jacie’s accomplishment is quite significant as it places her among a very select group of 200 elite students nationwide.

Jacie’s qualities as a servant-leader were quite evident in her application. Letters of recommendation from Dr. Michael Taylor (College of Arts & Sciences / Political Science), Adam Loehner (Community Relations), and Deputy Mayor Fred R. Profeta, Jr. (Township of Maplewood) spoke eloquently of her considerable impact both on campus and in the local community. Clearly, the national Truman committee agreed with their assessment.

Jacie is now working to prepare for her Finalist-level interview; an impressive number of faculty, administrators, and fellow students will be staffing mock interviews as part of that effort. The Truman foundation has assigned Jacie to interview in a group of finalists that will meet in St. Paul, Minnesota, on March 4th. Her interviewing panel will include a number of distinguished citizens, typically including university presidents, high-level public servants, judges, and past Truman scholars.
