PortugalAttention Students Interested in Portugese!

Third Party provider International Study Abroad is proud to announce expansion of its offerings to include culture & Portuguese language studies in two new program sites: Florianópolis, Brazil and Lisbon, Portugal. 

ISA will now offer programs that combine Portuguese language courses at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels, together with a series of elective courses taught in English. Courses cover a wide range of topics, including Race and Ethnicity in Brazil, Global Economic Studies, and Portuguese Literature. Below are details for each program.

Florianópolis, Brazil
Universidade do Sul de Santa Catarina
Portuguese Language, Culture, and Economics (Semester and Summer)


Students participating in ISA's Brazil program take courses at the Universidade do Sul de Santa Catarina (UNISUL) in Florianópolis. Referred to as “Floripa” by the locals, Florianópolis is a lively city known for its beaches and outdoor lifestyle. “Floripa” is located in Southern Brazil, and ranks as one of the nation's safest cities. Recently, it was voted the best place to live in the country by Veja, Brazil's most widely circulated magazine. In “Floripa,” ISA students may take courses taught in Portuguese and English by UNISUL faculty in the subject areas of language, culture, and economics. Optional Portuguese language courses are available at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels. There is no language requirement for the program and the minimum GPA is 2.5. Lisbon, Portugal
Catholic University of Portugal
Portuguese Language and Culture (Semester and Summer)


ISA's institutional partner in Lisbon is the Catholic University of Portugal (UCP). The University has made significant contributions to the development of higher education in Portugal and is recognized across Europe for its degree offerings and esteemed lecturers. While studying at the UCP, ISA students may enroll in a selection of culture & history courses taught in English during the semester and summer terms. Also available during semester study are beginning through advanced-level Portuguese language courses. All courses are taught by faculty at the UCP. There is no language requirement for the program and the minimum GPA is 2.5. For more details, please visit the ISA website.
